Crest Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is excited to announce a new, blossoming partnership with Eldergrow, a Seattle-based company that brings nature indoors with accessible mobile gardens. This partnership officially launched on February 23rd with Eldergrow Customer Success Manager, Angie Martin, leading an hour-long introductory workshop and hands-on horticulture planting exercises.
This partnership with Eldergrow offers one-of-a-kind wellness benefits which give residents new purpose as they care for their new gardens. Studies show that therapeutic horticulture reduces depression, improves balance, and lowers the risk factors for dementia by 36%. Eldergrow’s programs allows for seniors to have a therapeutic connection to nature through enrichment classes on horticulture, culinary, and garden art.
With monthly classes through Eldergrow’s educators, residents can actively engage in gardening and keep up with their plants inside the center, even during these colder months! Residents will not only be able to just harvest their home-grown herbs or plants, but they will also be able to make use in creative or culinary ways. Life Enrichment directors will be hosting events for residents using Eldergrow, such as dried-flower art classes or flower bouquet making.
At the recent kickoff event, residents loved putting on their gardening gloves, digging in the fresh soil, and planting a range of greenery and herbs which are expected to bloom over the next few weeks. Eldergrow’s initiative to bridge the gap between holistic horticulture therapy and senior care will surely be enacted at Crest Pointe, holding two “green thumbs” up for superior, life-enriching, and next level programs!
